Ingredients
- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 cups Granny Smith apples (peeled and diced)
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar and set aside.
- In another bowl, toss the apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cut the pastry into squares and fill each with a spoonful of cream cheese mixture and spiced apples.
- Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling and crimp edges to seal.
- Brush tops with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
For a glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk and drizzle over cooled Danishes.
