Description

Delightful French macarons infused with the classic flavors of apple pie, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup butter (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (if needed)


Instructions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat.
  2. In a bowl, mix almond flour and powdered sugar; sift together.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add granulated sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in the sifted almond flour mixture until just combined.
  5. Pipe small circles of batter onto the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  7. In a saucepan, cook diced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until soft.
  8. Cool the apple mixture, then blend into a smooth filling.
  9. Bake macarons for 15-20 minutes, monitoring closely.
  10. Once cooled, pipe the apple filling between two macaron shells to assemble.

Notes

Ensure egg whites are aged for 24 hours for optimal texture. Use gel food coloring for added aesthetics if desired.
