Description

Delightful apple turnovers made with simple biscuit dough, featuring sweet, spiced apple filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 4 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix flour and baking powder, then cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut it into squares.
  4. In another bowl, combine diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each square.
  6. Fold the dough over to create a pocket and crimp the edges firmly to seal.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash (beaten egg with a splash of milk).
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure dough is chilled if your kitchen is warm. Serve warm with powdered sugar or alongside vanilla ice cream.
