Description

An elevated twist on classic onion rings, featuring gooey cheese and a unique blend of spices, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet onions (e.g., Vidalia)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar and mozzarella blend)
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into thick rings and soak them in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Coat soaked onion rings with the seasoned flour, then with the shredded cheese.
  5. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes
