Description

A vibrant dish combining the subtle sweetness of chayote with the smoky heat of dried green chiles, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 chayotes, sliced
  • 2 dried green chiles, rehydrated and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh lime juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rehydrate the dried green chiles in hot water for 15 minutes.
  2. Chop the rehydrated chiles, garlic, and onion.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced chayote and cook until tender-crisp, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and finish with fresh lime juice if desired.

Notes

Choose firm, smooth chayote for the best texture and flavor. Adjust green chile quantity based on your heat preference.
