Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 slices bread (sourdough or Texas toast recommended)
- Butter for spreading
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Toppings: pickles, lettuce, tomatoes (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper until browned and crumbly.
- Prepare your bread and cheese while the beef is cooking.
- Assemble the sandwich with a layer of beef and cheese between two slices of bread.
- Spread butter on the outside of the bread.
- Grill the sandwich in the skillet until the bread is golden and crispy and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Serve with optional toppings and dipping sauce.
Notes
For a crunchy crust, don’t rush the cooking of the sandwich and press down gently with a spatula while grilling.
