Description

A classic Hungarian dish featuring chicken in a rich, creamy paprika sauce, perfect for cozy dinners.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish
  • Egg noodles or rice, for serving


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a heavy-bottomed dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. Brown the chicken pieces on both sides.
  4. Add sweet paprika and stir well.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a simmer, and cook until chicken is tender.
  6. Remove the pot from heat and stir in sour cream until smooth.
  7. Serve over egg noodles or rice, garnished with parsley.

Notes

For a flavorful twist, use fresh herbs and quality paprika. Adjust sour cream to prevent curdling.
