Description

Delicious and quick Chicken Shawarma Wraps packed with marinated chicken and creamy garlic yogurt sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • Fresh veggies (cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.)
  • For Garlic Yogurt Sauce: 1 cup plain yogurt, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt to taste


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, coat well, and let sit for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the marinated chicken thighs.
  4. Cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Remove chicken, let cool slightly, then slice or shred.
  6. For the garlic yogurt sauce, mix yogurt, minced garlic, olive oil, and salt in a bowl.
  7. Warm the pita bread lightly.
  8. Assemble the wraps by placing chicken and fresh veggies inside the pita.
  9. Add a generous dollop of garlic yogurt sauce and wrap tightly.
  10. Serve warm with extra garlic yogurt sauce and veggies on the side.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Chicken can be frozen for up to 2 months.
