Description

A warm and moist banana bread studded with chocolate chips, perfect for using overripe bananas.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium very ripe bananas (about 1 1/2 cups, mashed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or yogurt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan; line it with parchment for easy removal.
  2. Mash the bananas in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, neutral oil, vanilla, and sour cream or yogurt.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  5. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined, then gently stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use very ripe bananas and avoid overmixing. This recipe can be adapted for gluten-free or dairy-free diets.
