Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red gel food coloring
- Green gel food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until combined.
- Divide the dough in half, tint one half red and the other green with food coloring.
- Roll each colored dough between parchment paper to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Layer the two colors of dough together and roll into a log.
- Chill the log in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Once chilled, slice into 1/4 inch rounds and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
- Allow to cool before serving.
