Description

A cozy fall treat that combines warm spices with the rich flavor of pumpkin in a delightful sourdough loaf.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • Additional sugar and cinnamon for swirl


Instructions

  1. Mix sourdough starter, flour, warm water, pumpkin puree, sugar, spices, and salt to form a soft dough.
  2. Knead the dough until elastic, then let it rest and ferment for several hours or overnight.
  3. Roll the dough out into a rectangle, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture, and roll it up tightly.
  4. Shape into a loaf and place in a loaf pan.
  5. Let rise until doubled in size, then bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
