Description

A classic Italian fish stew featuring a medley of fresh seafood and vibrant flavors, perfect for impressing family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup fish broth or clam juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound white fish fillets, cut into chunks
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound mussels, cleaned
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Crusty bread (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, fish broth, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the fish, shrimp, and mussels to the pot. Cover and cook until the mussels open and the fish is cooked through, about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and accompanied by crusty bread.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the stew simmer a bit longer before adding the seafood. Use fresh seafood for the best flavor and consider adding clams, crab, or squid if desired.
