Description

A delightful dish that balances the flavors of shrimp, spicy red pepper, and fresh basil, perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 12 ounces Spaghetti or linguine
  • 3 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
  • 28 ounces Crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about a cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and warm it. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add red pepper flakes to the skillet and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.
  7. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and shrimp, adding reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.
  8. Stir in chopped basil and serve immediately, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor. Adjust red pepper flakes based on heat preference. Make sure not to overcook the shrimp.
