Description

A cheesy, hearty casserole featuring layers of tender potatoes, savory beef, and vibrant spinach, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or gouda)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups cream or milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until softened.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the beef mixture, fresh spinach, and half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining potatoes on top.
  6. Pour the cream or milk evenly over the top layer.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  8. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use fresh spinach for the best results. For a spicier version, add jalapeños to the beef mixture.
