A cheesy, hearty casserole featuring layers of tender potatoes, savory beef, and vibrant spinach, perfect for chilly evenings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or gouda)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups cream or milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until softened.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the beef mixture, fresh spinach, and half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining potatoes on top.
- Pour the cream or milk evenly over the top layer.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
- Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use fresh spinach for the best results. For a spicier version, add jalapeños to the beef mixture.
