Description
Deliciously creamy mashed potatoes made effortlessly in a crockpot, perfect for any holiday meal or weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 5 pounds Russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
 - 5 cloves garlic, smashed
 - 1 1/2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
 - 1 cup sour cream
 - 1/2–3/4 cup whole milk or heavy cream (adjust as needed)
 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
 - Optional: chopped fresh parsley or chives, for garnish
 
Instructions
- Place the chopped potatoes and smashed garlic into the crockpot.
 - Pour the broth over the top.
 - Cover the crockpot and cook on HIGH for 180-240 minutes or LOW for 360-420 minutes, until the potatoes are very tender.
 - Add the butter and mash the potatoes directly in the crockpot.
 - Stir in the sour cream and gradually add milk until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
 - Add salt and pepper to taste. If desired, garnish with fresh herbs and keep warm until serving.
 
Notes
For extra richness, consider using heavy cream instead of milk. Customize by adding cheese or cooked bacon for a loaded version.
