Description

Crispy and golden onion petals made in an air fryer, perfect for parties and snacks without the mess of deep frying.

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Sweet Onion (like Vidalia), peeled and sliced carefully
  • 1/2 cup Milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup Flour (for breading)
  • 1 tablespoon Hot Sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion into 8-12 cuts from the top, keeping the root intact.
  2. Soak the onion in cold water for a few minutes to help the layers separate.
  3. In one bowl, mix milk and hot sauce. In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs, flour, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dunk each petal in the wet mixture, then the dry, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Place the petals in the air fryer basket, spritz lightly with oil.
  6. Set air fryer to 375°F and cook for about 10 minutes, checking for doneness.
  7. Let cool for 1-2 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket and ensure you have the right onion thickness.
