A delightful twist on traditional sushi, these Crispy Fried Sushi Rolls feature a crunchy exterior and fresh flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Nori sheets
- Avocado, sliced
- Cucumber, sliced
- Carrots, julienned
- Oil for frying
- Soy sauce, for serving
- Spicy mayo, for serving
Instructions
- Cook sushi rice according to package instructions until sticky.
- In a small bowl, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt; mix until dissolved.
- Fold the vinegar mixture into the warm rice and let it cool slightly.
- Prepare your fillings (avocado, cucumber, carrots).
- Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread rice on top evenly, leaving a little space at the edges.
- Add your desired fillings in the center, then roll tightly using the bamboo mat.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F.
- Fry the rolls until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Slice with a sharp knife and serve immediately with soy sauce and spicy mayo.
Notes
Use short-grain rice for best results and ensure oil is properly heated for crispiness.
