A timeless dessert blending creamy custard with a flaky crust, perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and cubed butter until crumbly.
- Add the egg yolk and water, mixing until the dough forms a ball.
- Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and place it into a tart pan.
- Blind bake the crust for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until smooth.
- Strain the custard through a fine-mesh sieve and pour it into the warm crust.
- Bake for an additional 25 minutes until the edges are set but the center is slightly wobbly.
- Let the tart cool in the oven for 30 minutes, then chill in the refrigerator for several hours before serving.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Add fresh berries for extra flavor.
