Description

A delightful mix of fresh fruits, nuts, and spices, this charoset adds sweetness to the Passover Seder and makes a wonderful seasonal dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (mix of sweet and tart)
  • 1 cup toasted walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sweet red wine
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Optional: a pinch of nutmeg or allspice

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the apples and toasted walnuts into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, combine chopped apples, walnuts, sweet red wine, honey, and cinnamon.
  3. Mix gently to avoid mashing the apples, preserving their texture.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness with more honey or wine as needed.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Serve charoset in small bowls, on crackers, or with cheese. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
