Description
Coyotas from Sonora are traditional Mexican pastries filled with a delightful mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon, perfect for snacks or desserts.
Ingredients
- 500 g All-purpose flour
- 100 g Sugar
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 100 g Butter (melted)
- 1 large Egg
- 100 ml Milk
- 200 g Brown sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, sugar, and baking powder.
- Add the melted butter, egg, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix well until a soft dough forms.
- In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract to make the filling.
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
- Take a small portion of dough and flatten it in your hand. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center.
- Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal it well.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Place the filled coyotas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool before serving.
Notes
Coyotas are best enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Serve them plain or dusted with powdered sugar.
