Description

A delicious and creamy homemade butter chicken recipe that’s easy to make and full of flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (or smoked paprika)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 medium onion, chopped


Instructions

  1. Chop the chicken and marinate it with yogurt, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, and spices for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a pan, add chopped onions, and cook until translucent.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until browned.
  4. Pour in tomato puree and a bit more spice; let it simmer until thick.
  5. Stir in cream and a touch more butter; taste and adjust seasoning.
  6. Serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate the chicken for longer. If the sauce is too thick, add water or milk. Use high-quality butter for best results.
