Description

A crispy Indian snack made from chickpea flour and spices, perfect for munching anytime.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for deep frying


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ajwain, and salt.
  2. Add water gradually to form a smooth dough.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to around 350°F (175°C).
  4. Using a sev maker or piping bag, shape the dough into thin strands.
  5. Carefully drop the strands into the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove the fried sev and drain on paper towels.
  7. Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent greasy sev. Store in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
