Description

A delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, these roasted pears topped with goat cheese, hazelnuts, and thyme are an impressive appetizer or side dish.


Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Pears (Firm varieties like Bosc or Anjou)
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 100 grams Goat Cheese (Or substitute with feta)
  • 50 grams Sultan Raisins (Can replace with golden raisins or dried cranberries)
  • 50 grams Chopped Hazelnuts (Substitute with walnuts or pecans if needed)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey or Fiber Syrup (Optional)
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh Thyme (Dried thyme can be used as a substitute)
  • 50 grams Gruyere Cheese (Can swap with mozzarella or fontina)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the pears in half and remove the seeds.
  3. Place the pear halves in a baking dish, cut side up.
  4. Sprinkle sea salt over the pears to enhance their flavor.
  5. Crumble goat cheese over each pear half.
  6. Add sultans raisins and chopped hazelnuts on top of the cheese.
  7. Drizzle honey or fiber syrup over the pears if you want extra sweetness.
  8. Sprinkle fresh thyme on top.
  9. Finally, add a layer of Gruyere cheese over everything.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the pears are tender and the cheese is melted.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg before baking. Serve on a bed of greens for presentation.
