Description

A tangy and flavorful homemade tomato chutney that pairs well with various dishes.


Ingredients

  • 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar


Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  2. Add cumin and mustard seeds, cooking until they begin to pop.
  3. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  4. Add vinegar and sugar, then let the mixture simmer until it thickens.
  5. Once thickened, allow the chutney to cool before storing it in sterilized jars.

Notes

Let the chutney sit for a day for best flavor. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
