A tangy and flavorful homemade tomato chutney that pairs well with various dishes.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Instructions
- In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
- Add cumin and mustard seeds, cooking until they begin to pop.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Add vinegar and sugar, then let the mixture simmer until it thickens.
- Once thickened, allow the chutney to cool before storing it in sterilized jars.
Notes
Let the chutney sit for a day for best flavor. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
