Description

Delightful Ukrainian dumplings, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for soups and dipping.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar and let it foam for a few minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and the activated yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Shape the dough into small balls, placing them on a baking sheet.
  7. Brush with egg wash for a golden crust.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve with soups or dipping sauces for a delightful treat. For variation, add herbs or cheese.
