Description

A delightful Mediterranean dessert featuring a moist cake infused with ground walnuts, cinnamon, and cloves, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground walnuts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup honey (for syrup)
  • 1/2 cup water (for syrup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In one bowl, mix the dry ingredients: ground walnuts, flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: eggs, yogurt, and oil until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water and honey together until it thickens slightly.
  7. Once baked, allow the cake to cool slightly before drizzling with the honey syrup.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Pairs well with Greek coffee or tea.
