Ingredients
- 1 cup ground walnuts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup honey (for syrup)
- 1/2 cup water (for syrup)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
- In one bowl, mix the dry ingredients: ground walnuts, flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: eggs, yogurt, and oil until smooth.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water and honey together until it thickens slightly.
- Once baked, allow the cake to cool slightly before drizzling with the honey syrup.
- Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Pairs well with Greek coffee or tea.
