A comforting casserole with layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh herbs for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers and pour milk over the top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add jalapeños to the beef mixture. Make sure to slice potatoes uniformly for even cooking.
