Description
A comforting and flavorful dish perfect for family dinners, featuring juicy hamburger steaks smothered in rich gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef (or ground turkey for a lighter version)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
- 1 large Egg (omit for a vegan option)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (or soy sauce)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp Oil (for frying)
- 2 cups Beef Broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian)
- 1/4 cup All-purpose Flour
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg (if using), Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into thick patties, about ½ inch in thickness.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the flour and stir to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
- Slowly add the beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Add the soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the patties to the skillet and cover, cooking for an additional 10 minutes until the gravy thickens and the patties are cooked through.
Notes
Serve hot drizzled with gravy. Pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
