Description

Delightful homemade apple fritters with a crispy exterior and soft, spiced center, topped with a sweet cinnamon glaze.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 apples, diced (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and salt.
  2. Fold in diced apples and sour cream to create a thick batter.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Remove fritters from oil and place on a paper towel to drain.
  6. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  7. Drizzle the glaze over warm fritters and serve immediately.

Notes

Keep an eye on the oil temperature to ensure the fritters cook perfectly without becoming greasy. Pair with vanilla ice cream or serve warm with coffee for a delightful treat.
