Description

Tender, spiced chicken wrapped in warm pita bread, drizzled with a luscious creamy garlic sauce – a delicious journey into Middle Eastern cuisine.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breasts, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes, parsley) for topping

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in cumin, paprika, turmeric, minced garlic, salt, and pepper for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until browned and cooked through.
  3. In a bowl, mix yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and olive oil to make the creamy garlic sauce.
  4. Warm the pita bread and fill it with cooked chicken and fresh vegetables.
  5. Drizzle the creamy garlic sauce over the top and wrap the pita.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking and enjoy your shawarma with fresh pita and toppings.
