Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: milk, eggs, and melted butter.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until a thick, pliable dough forms.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and cut it into rings.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Drain on a cooling rack lined with paper towels.
- Serve plain or dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
For variation, you can use gluten-free flour or make them dairy-free with almond milk and coconut oil.
