Description

Delicious cronuts that blend the flaky goodness of croissants with the sweetness of doughnuts, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Glaze of choice (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yolk and yeast mixture, mix to form dough.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth, then let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out dough and layer with cold butter, folding and rolling several times to create layers.
  5. Chill the dough for 1-2 hours, then cut into donut shapes.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C) and fry cronuts until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil and let drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar or glaze as desired.

Notes

Keep dough and butter cold to maintain flaky layers. Use high-quality butter for the best flavor.
