Description

A delightful and tangy condiment, homemade pickled pearl onions enhance a variety of dishes with their crisp texture and vibrant flavors.


Ingredients

  • 16 pearl onions
  • 1 cup vinegar (white or apple cider)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Optional spices (dill, red pepper flakes, etc.)


Instructions

  1. Blanch pearl onions in boiling water for 1-2 minutes to loosen skins.
  2. Cool the onions, then peel them.
  3. In a saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, and spices and bring to a simmer.
  4. Pack peeled onions into sterilized jars.
  5. Cover onions with hot vinegar mixture.
  6. Let cool, then seal jars and refrigerate.

Notes

Adjust spices and vinegar based on personal preference. Store these pickled onions in sterilized jars for up to 2-3 weeks in the fridge.
