Description

Delicious and versatile pickled pearl onions that add a tangy crunch to your dishes.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound pearl onions
  • 1 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns (optional)


Instructions

  1. Blanch the pearl onions in boiling water for 2-3 minutes to soften the skins, then drain and cool.
  2. Peel the onions once cooled.
  3. In a saucepan, combine vinegar, sugar, salt, and optional spices; bring to a simmer.
  4. Place onions in a sterilized jar and pour the hot brine over them, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  5. Seal the jar and let cool at room temperature for a few hours, then refrigerate for at least 24 hours before enjoying.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, consider proper canning methods.
