Description

A simple and customizable recipe for homemade tahini that is fresh, healthy, and free from additives.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sesame Seeds (Toasted for enhanced flavor)
  • 2-3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil (For creaminess and richness)
  • ½ teaspoon Sea Salt (Adjust to taste)
  • 2-4 tablespoons Water (To achieve desired consistency)
  • Optional Flavorings (Garlic powder, lemon juice, or spices)

Instructions

  1. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until golden and fragrant.
  2. Remove from heat and let the seeds cool for a few minutes.
  3. Transfer cooled seeds to a food processor. Add olive oil, salt, and any optional flavorings.
  4. Blend on high speed, scraping down the sides as needed, for 1-2 minutes until crumbly.
  5. Slowly add water while blending until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust salt or flavorings as necessary, then blend again briefly.
  7. Transfer tahini to a clean jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate.

Notes

To ensure your tahini is super smooth, blend for a bit longer. Adjust the water to get your desired consistency; add more for a thinner tahini. Experiment with flavors like cumin or hot sauce.
