Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream for serving
- Extra pecans for garnish
- Sea salt for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine vanilla cake mix, eggs, water, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Once cooled, poke holes in the cake using the handle of a wooden spoon, about 1 inch apart.
- In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, brown sugar, and vanilla extract over medium heat, stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Pour the butter pecan mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve with whipped cream, extra pecans, and a sprinkle of sea salt.
Notes
For best results, serve chilled and use fresh toasted pecans.
