Ingredients
- 4 large sweet onions (e.g., Vidalia or Walla Walla)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated Asiago cheese
- Fresh parsley or chives for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the tops off the onions and carefully hollow them out, leaving enough flesh to keep them sturdy.
- In a bowl, mix the scooped onion flesh with heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Spoon the creamy mixture back into the hollowed onions.
- Sprinkle grated Asiago cheese on top of each filled onion.
- Place the filled onions in a baking dish, snugly fitting them upright.
- Bake for 30 minutes until golden and tender.
- Optionally broil for a few minutes for a crispy top.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chives before serving.
Notes
For an extra crispy finish, consider broiling the onions for the last few minutes of baking.
