Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Gradually mix in flour until a crumbly dough forms.
- Press the dough firmly into the bottom of a greased baking pan.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and heavy cream. Heat over medium, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
- Increase heat and bring to a gentle boil, cooking until mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat, stir in sea salt.
- Pour the caramel over the baked crust, spreading evenly.
- Let cool completely before slicing into bars.
