Description

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the sugar mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the cupcake liners and bake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
  7. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before decorating.
