Description

A comforting dish of creamy grits topped with savory sautéed shrimp, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika or Cajun seasoning

Instructions

  1. Bring chicken broth to a boil in a medium pot. Gradually whisk in grits, stirring continuously.
  2. Reduce heat to low. Cover partially and cook for 20-25 minutes until creamy, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in heavy cream and 4 tablespoons of butter. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute.
  5. Toss in seasoned shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Serve creamy grits topped with sautéed shrimp and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

Use stone-ground grits for the best texture. Adjust spices to your liking. For a smoky flavor, consider smoked paprika.
