A comforting dish of creamy grits topped with savory sautéed shrimp, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
 - 1 cup stone-ground grits
 - 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
 - 1/2 cup heavy cream
 - 4 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
 - 4 cloves garlic, minced
 - 3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
 - Salt and pepper to taste
 - 1 tsp paprika or Cajun seasoning
 
Instructions
- Bring chicken broth to a boil in a medium pot. Gradually whisk in grits, stirring continuously.
 - Reduce heat to low. Cover partially and cook for 20-25 minutes until creamy, stirring occasionally.
 - Stir in heavy cream and 4 tablespoons of butter. Season with salt and pepper.
 - In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute.
 - Toss in seasoned shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
 - Serve creamy grits topped with sautéed shrimp and garnish with chopped green onions.
 
Notes
Use stone-ground grits for the best texture. Adjust spices to your liking. For a smoky flavor, consider smoked paprika.
