Ingredients
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 8 cups day-old bread cubes (challah or brioche)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- Caramel sauce, for drizzling
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans), for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed bananas, sugar, eggs, and milk until smooth.
- Add bread cubes and gently fold until well combined; let sit for at least 15 minutes.
- Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the center is set and golden brown on top.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
