Ingredients
- 1 head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken)
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme or oregano)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
- Sour cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water until soft, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- In a skillet, sauté the diced onion until translucent.
- In a bowl, mix the ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onion, salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Place a generous spoonful of filling in each cabbage leaf, roll tightly, and tuck in the ends.
- Arrange the rolls in a baking dish and cover with tomato sauce.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 60 minutes, until tender.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and a dollop of sour cream if desired.
Notes
Use day-old rice to prevent mushy rolls and ensure your filling is slightly cool before wrapping.
