Ingredients
- 4-6 small to medium-sized yellow onions
 - 1 cup all-purpose flour
 - 1 cup breadcrumbs
 - 1 cup buttermilk
 - 1 teaspoon paprika
 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
 - 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
 - Salt and pepper to taste
 - Oil for frying
 
Instructions
- Soak the onions in ice water for at least 30 minutes.
 - Prepare a batter by mixing flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
 - Dip onions in buttermilk, then coat in the dry mixture.
 - Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
 - Fry the coated onions in batches until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes each.
 - Remove and drain on paper towels.
 - Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
 
Notes
For best results, do not overcrowd the frying oil. Adjust spices to preference for different flavor profiles.
