Description

Enjoy juicy, flavorful chicken tenders inspired by Cane’s recipe, easy to make at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breasts or tenderloins
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper until well mixed. Cover and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Slice the chicken breasts into three vertical strips each. If using tenderloins, remove the tendons.
  3. In a resealable bag, mix the buttermilk with half of the Cajun seasoning. Add the chicken strips, seal the bag, and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour to marinate.
  4. In a shallow dish, mix the remaining Cajun seasoning with the flour. Press each chicken strip into the flour mixture to coat.
  5. Heat oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry 3-4 strips at a time for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. For a healthier option, preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Cook the chicken tenders for 8-16 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
  7. Serve the chicken tenders hot with your homemade Cane’s sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in buttermilk overnight. Use a thermometer to check the oil temperature for frying.
