Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken breasts or tenderloins
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- If using chicken breasts, cut into three vertical strips or use tenderloins after removing tendons.
- In a resealable bag, mix buttermilk with half of the Cajun seasoning. Add chicken strips, seal, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- In a shallow dish, mix remaining Cajun seasoning with flour. Coat each chicken strip in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil to 350°F. Fry 3-4 strips for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- For air fryer, preheat to 400°F and cook chicken tenders for about 8-16 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve hot with homemade Cane’s sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate chicken longer than 1 hour. Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy chicken. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free flour.
