Description

Tender, well-seasoned meatballs simmered in a bright, homemade tomato sauce, perfect for comforting weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/4 lb ground pork
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (about 24 oz)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix gently by hand until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1½-inch meatballs and chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides for about 6–8 minutes.
  4. Transfer the browned meatballs to a pot of simmering marinara sauce.
  5. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for 20–25 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
  6. Serve hot over pasta, in sandwiches, or as appetizers.

Notes

For added moisture, finish the meatballs in the sauce. Keep an eye on the cooking temperature to ensure proper doneness.
