Ingredients
- 250g kataifi pastry
- 100g finely chopped walnuts or pistachios
- 100g sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 200g unsalted butter, melted
- 300ml honey
- 200ml water
- Crushed pistachios for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine the chopped nuts, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Spread a layer of melted butter on a baking dish.
- Separate the kataifi pastry and spread it out, drizzling with more melted butter.
- Sprinkle the nut mixture evenly over the kataifi.
- Roll the kataifi into spirals and place in the baking dish.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, in a saucepan, combine honey and water to make the syrup; bring to a simmer.
- Once the kataifi is baked, pour the warm syrup over it.
- Let it cool before serving, garnished with crushed pistachios.
Notes
For best results, use fresh nuts and ensure kataifi is buttered thoroughly for maximum crispness.
