Description

Delightful flatbread topped with a flavorful meat mixture, offering a unique twist on traditional pizza.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 pound ground meat (lamb or beef)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh lemon juice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm water and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  3. In another bowl, mix ground meat, onions, garlic, tomatoes, parsley, and spices to create the topping.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into thin flatbreads.
  6. Spread the topping mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Place lahmacun on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crispy.
  8. Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon juice.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. For a vegetarian variant, use lentils or finely chopped mushrooms as a topping.
