Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 pound ground meat (lamb or beef)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 medium tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh lemon juice (for serving)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm water and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- In another bowl, mix ground meat, onions, garlic, tomatoes, parsley, and spices to create the topping.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into thin flatbreads.
- Spread the topping mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Place lahmacun on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crispy.
- Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon juice.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. For a vegetarian variant, use lentils or finely chopped mushrooms as a topping.
