A delicious twist on a classic, this Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese features gooey macaroni and cheese stuffed between two slices of crispy, buttery bread.
Ingredients
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 slices of bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over low heat and gradually stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
- Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread.
- Fill two slices of bread with the mac and cheese mixture, then top with the remaining slices to form sandwiches.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and grill the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding sautéed spinach or crispy bacon to the mac and cheese. Pair with tomato soup for a comforting meal.
