Description

A delicious twist on a classic, this Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese features gooey macaroni and cheese stuffed between two slices of crispy, buttery bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over low heat and gradually stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  3. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix well.
  4. Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread.
  5. Fill two slices of bread with the mac and cheese mixture, then top with the remaining slices to form sandwiches.
  6. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and grill the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding sautéed spinach or crispy bacon to the mac and cheese. Pair with tomato soup for a comforting meal.
