A delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, Matcha Tiramisu blends the rich flavors of mascarpone and whipped cream with the bright and grassy notes of matcha green tea.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons matcha (ceremonial or culinary)
- 1 cup (240 ml) hot water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup (240 ml) cold heavy cream
- 8 oz (225 g) mascarpone
- 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 24–30 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- 1–2 teaspoons matcha for dusting
Instructions
- Whisk matcha with hot water and sugar until smooth; cool to room temperature.
- In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream to medium peaks and set aside.
- Beat mascarpone with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
- Fold whipped cream gently into the mascarpone mixture until well-combined.
- Quickly dip ladyfingers in matcha soaking liquid for 1–2 seconds, then layer them in an 8×8 dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, and top with the remaining filling.
- Sift matcha over the surface just before serving.
- Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best texture.
Notes
For a smoother texture, chill all ingredients before use. Serve in individual portions for an elegant presentation.
